WELCOME TO SAN JOSE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

SJNHS HISTORY

PNS San Jose Branch was estabilished on March 4, 1972 after the approval of a Barrio Resolution passed by the Barangay Officials of San Jose, City of Puerto Princesa headed by Perfecto Gabuco with the technical assistance of the Elementary School Principal of Francisco F. Ubay in the person of Crispiniano R. Acosta Sr. He supervised and administered the school during the S.Y:1972-1977 with two teachers and with the initialenrollment of 65 first year students housed in the Barangay hall and Health Center as temporary buildings

The following year, 1973-74, the school was housed in a Marcos Pre- Fab at the barangay site. The building was built by the CIBAC team of the Philippie Navy. That school year, there was an increase in enrollment in 1976-1977, the school was recommended for closure for lack of budgetary funds and support of PTA.

From 1977 to 1985, the school was absorbed by the Palawan Teachers College under President Walfredo Ponce De Leon, as San Jose Development High School headed Mr. Franklin Solita, who was succeeded by Miss Aurora Betano, then passed on to Mr. Silveno Fermantes and later assumed by Professor Vicente Esguerra during the S.Y: 1984-1985. It ceased operation during that school year when Letter of Instruction 1461 was evoked; hence it was detached from PTC control.

On June , 1985,upon the approval of Barangay Resolution, the school was recognized as San Jose Barangay High School and under the administration and supervision of the Division of Palawan with Mrs. Elvira S. Abiog as SDS. The T.I.C. was Mrs. Phebe R.Malolos, with her, were six teachers.

In 1986, Mrs. Rosalinda A. Sipole was designated by SDS Dr. Belen Magsino as Teacher In Charge. During Mrs. Sipole's administration. the title for the 1-hectare lot donated by the Apostolic Vicariate of Palawan represented by Msgr. Gregorio Espiga, O.A.R. was acquired. A 3-classrom building was constructed. It was funded under CDF of then Speaker Ramon V. Mitra Jr. The construction of Science Laboratory Building immediately followed, the fundimg of this building was through the effort of City Government of Puerto Princesa.

When Japanese International Cooperating Agency opened its school building aid in Palawan, San Jose was one of the recipient. This was so because the has its own certificate of title, one of the requisits of JICA for school building grants. The building is composed of four classrooms and one Science Laboratory, complete with Science equipments, furniture and fixtures. Included in the package grant were water pump, water tank and 3 restrooms for male, female and handicapped students.

One year after the JICA building was granted, a two room demountable bulding was constructed with funds fro the PMS under Social Fund through the Congress and DPWH.

By virtue of R.A 6765, the school was integrated to Palawan National School. This was made possible because of PTA, Barangay, and Students' petition and resolution under Rosalinda A. Sipole, its TIC.

In 1994, Mrs \. Rosalinda A. Sipole was promoted to Pricipal I to manage ably the increasing number of teachers, students. and the acquisition of more buildings. At present, SJNHS has an enrollment of 1,476 students, 30 teachers, and 9 buildings.
